According to Flat Friend Sue Foster, Richard Bull – aka Bully to those that know and love him (that would include us then!) – is just a bit bonkers.

“I’ve known this lovely man for years” she said, “they threw away the mold when they made him, he doesn’t do anything by halves!”

He sure doesn’t. Today Bully and his pals set off from Lands End on a gruelling two week journey of almost 1,000 miles cycling the length of Britain to John O’Groats. And he’s doing it all to raise vital funds for Flat Friends because Sue, a Flat Friend since November 2016, is one of his besties and he wants to help.

Sue, who is celebrating the end of her treatment for breast cancer, tries to describe this extraordinary gentleman:

“He’s just such a great guy, always ready with a quip or a funny remark. Genuinely laugh a minute, so funny, I get face-ache when I see him! We met at a race meeting in Belgium, he used to race a Triumph TR4, and he was always at the front of the grid. He’s 51, married, living in Essex, likes cars, motor bikes, cycles and beer, and reckons he’s lost two stone since he started training for this Flat Friends fundraiser. I told him, real women don’t like skinny men!”

If you live anywhere near tthe route or overnight stops, do go and cheer them on. Route details here on Google Maps, where you can view the whole interactive map and a daily breakdown.

Bully has set his fundraising target at £5,000, which is just amazing and will go such a long way to helping us raise awareness and create a stronger voice for the choice to live breastfree after a cancer risk or diagnosis.

Flat Friends became a registered charity less than a year ago and now has over 700 members of our closed support group. We are still the only UK organisation dedicated to the support of women facing or living with mastectomy surgery without reconstruction. Please join us in supporting Bully by sharing his story and, if you can spare it, donating to https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/richardbullendtoend
