Once I had decided that reconstruction wasn’t the right choice for me, I looked around for other ladies making the same decision and found no support networks in the UK, only an international group based in the US. It was great to find like minded women, but our health system is very different and I found that clothing ideas weren’t from shops I knew.
So in August 2014 I decided to start Flat Friends, a closed Facebook group, where women like me could find support, advice and friendship.
Two years later we are an official charity registered in England and Wales and the closed group has grown to almost 550 members. As well as this website there is a public Facebook page and a Twitter where friends, family and other supporters can be part of our wider family, and where we continue to raise awareness and be accessible to those who need us.
